The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a chilli variety developed in Trinidad and Tobago. It’s one of the hottest peppers in the world, measured at 2,009,231 Scoville Heat Units. That makes it roughly 400 times hotter than a jalapeño and about 10 times hotter than a habanero!
The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a large, wrinkly pepper that can grow up to around 7cm (3 inches) long. It’s usually orange or red, but can also be yellow or chocolate brown. Its tip ends in a little stinger that looks just like a scorpion’s tail, which is where it gets its name.
The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is famous for its ferocious heat.
Despite its extreme heat, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a popular ingredient in hot sauces and other spicy dishes.
